Rambo: The Force of Freedom (also known simply as "Rambo") was a 1986 American animated series produced by the Ruby-Spears Enterprises animation studio. It was loosely based on the 1982 movie First Blood and its 1985 sequel Rambo: First Blood Part II (which in turn were based on the 1972 David Morrell novel First Blood). To meet the requirements of a kid-friendly cartoon series, the main character (combat veteran John Rambo) was transformed from a PTSD-suffering anti-hero into a more traditional action hero who leads a team called "The Force of Freedom" against various bad guys and monsters.
